Which prior judgment did this practice support?
P07 / CANONICAL PRINCIPLE
Methods grow through practice, review and renewed practice
A method is not an elegant summary of experience. It becomes a usable cognitive asset only when it enters the next action, meets the test of outcomes and remains open to revision.
POSITION ORIGIN
HHoward position
Confirmed by Howard and directly supported by his practice, historical expression or outcomes. AI organises and connects; it is not the source of the position.
Source and evidence rules →WHY IT MATTERS
Experience easily becomes a story; review becomes a conclusion; and the conclusion becomes detached from the next action. The hard part is to abstract real friction into reusable rules while preserving context, limits and counterexamples.
DECISION QUESTIONS
The principle must change an actual choice
Which fact challenged it?
Which success or failure may have been accidental?
What rule, question or tool can be reused next time?
Under what conditions should the method stop or reopen?
Which counterexample should be sought next?

EVIDENCE SLICES
Evidence supports the current view without turning it into permanent truth
A case is an evidence slice
A case is valuable because it reveals friction, action sequence and constraints—not because it automatically proves a universal rule.
Review must produce a next action
If a review produces only prose and changes no questions, thresholds, tools or responsibilities, it has not entered the system.
Repeated practice can repeat bias
Volume of experience does not replace falsification. A method must actively seek different contexts, failures and external theory.
BOUNDARIES & COUNTEREXAMPLES
Under these conditions, the principle must narrow, yield or reopen
01External theory can supply strong hypotheses; personal practice need not start from zero.
02High-risk legal, regulatory and safety tasks cannot rely on trial and error to establish minimum standards.
03Repeated practice may simply repeat the same bias.
04Over-abstraction removes context and causes reuse under the wrong conditions.
05A complete case helps explain causal sequence but does not supply universal truth.
06Some outcomes take a long time to appear; provisional status must remain visible.

Questions for the next cycle of practice
How can we tell whether a method actually changed a later outcome?
How do we abstract while preserving enough contextual conditions?
